The 10th Fitzgerald Prize

Retour à la liste

After a forced pause of one year due to the pandemic, the lovers of literature had the pleasure to finally gather on the magnificent terraces of the Hotel Belles Rives to discover the laureates of this so special edition, not only for a cocktail as during the previous editions but for a fabulous and very private Writers' Dinner at the waterfront.

A few words about the winner of the 2021 Fitzgerald Prize
Gianfranco Calligarich's first novel, published in 1973 and unpublished in France, "The Last Summer in the City" is a cult novel that is constantly being republished. This masterpiece had never been translated in France and it is finally done thanks to the collection "Du Monde Entier" of Gallimard. We are looking forward to the translation of "Privati Abissi", Bagutta Prize 2012 and "La Malinconia dei Crusich", Viarreggio Prize for narrative 2017.
In this melancholic and romantic novel, the Italian writer draws the portrait of a bibliophile and alcoholic man in search of a meaning to give his life. A story of love and loneliness for this literary gem (another "Diamond as Big as the Ritz"? ) that immerses us in a carefree Italy with accents of Dolce Vita.

A few words about the author of the Prix Zelda 2021
Dominique Bona is a member of the Académie Française since 2013, a journalist and literary critic for Le Quotidien de Paris and then for Le Figaro Littéraire. She has published five novels and numerous biographies, including those of Berthe Morisot, Camille Claudel, Colette, Clara Malraux, Romain Gary... A fulfilling career of which "Divine Jacqueline" is the latest work and her eleventh biography.
"Divine Jacqueline" pierces the enigma of the fascinating businesswoman Jacqueline de Ribes. A figure of the jet-set of the sixties, the Countess de Ribes, born Jacqueline de Beaumont, was a multi-faceted woman: discreet, philanthropist, muse and businesswoman. A story, worthy of Fitzgerald's novels, which depicts the antics of a society mixing the Parisian aristocracy with the jet set.
